Holiday Safety Tips

It’s the holiday season! This is the perfect time of year for baking, staying warm, and enjoying decorations. Here are some tips to keep your home cozy AND safe for the holidays:

  • Be sure to turn off all lights when you go to bed or leave the house! Lights can short and start a fire.
  • If you have a real tree, make sure you are keeping it hydrated! A dry tree is a fire risk and can ignite a room in mere seconds.
  • If you have an artificial tree, make sure it is labeled as “Fire Resistant.” This label means that the tree will resist burning and should extinguish quickly should a fire occur.
  • NEVER burn a tree or wrapping paper in your fireplace or woodstove! These can ignite suddenly and cause flash fires.
