Rainy season in the Pacific Northwest can be very relieving when it comes after a big fire season. That being said, we shouldn’t let our guard down as soon as we see some rain. According to the Emergency Management Division of Washington State Military Department, wildland fires have occurred in every month of the year. So while it may be less likely, it is still important to have your emergency kits ready and a plan in place.
Burn bans are also in place throughout the rainy season so it is important to check on the status of the restrictions in your area. If you have questions or are unsure about restrictions, don’t forget you can also check in with your local officials!
