What is a Red Flag Warning?

Often times when it gets dry, windy and warm outside, a “Red Flag Warning” is issued. Red Flag Warnings mean that the weather conditions happening now or soon are optimal for a fire to get out of control. It’s important to listen to the warnings and directions given by your local fire department in these matters.

Washington County Emergency Management gives some tips on how to prevent fires- such as not parking vehicles on dry grass and keeping roofs, gutters, decks and patios clear of leaves and other flammables.
